On the 4th Day of Christmas – WREATH

Hi my lovelies, this is day four of the 12 Days of Christmas Challenge, and today I will show you how to make a beautiful Christmas wreath.  If you like shiny things, then you are in for a treat!

A friend of mine showed me how to make a ‘suffolk puff’ and I thought it was so pretty and quite easy to make, so i decided to make a couple and use them to decorate a wreath.

I used some florist wreath frame and wrapped some twine around as I was not sure at this stage what I was going to do.  At first I wanted the twine to shine through, but as I was doing the suffolk puffs, I thought they looked so pretty I decided to cover the whole area.

To make the suffolk puffs I used some old curtains I had at home, they were lovely and shiny and perfect for a Christmas wreath I thought.  I cut out 2 different sized circles from the fabric, cut them out slightly larger than the size you need.  Stitch all the way around the circle keeping the stitches evenly spaced, then pull the puff and secure the thread.

Once I made enough suffolk puffs, I put some embellishments on using some hot glue gun.

Then all I needed to do was to arrange them in nice order on the wreath.  I then attached them on using a hot glue gun and put a beautiful matching ribbon on.

  1. It looks gorgeous, Evija!!! I didn’t know they were called like that, but using them for a wreath is such a clever idea! Pinned, maybe I will copy you 😉
    Have a wonderful week,
    Pili

  2. Cute wreath! If I could make one suggestion, it would be to take the flash off and photograph in natural light 🙂 your materials and wreath will show so much better! Keep up the good work!

  3. Your wreath is beautiful! I didn’t know what those puffs were called. They make such a lovely wreath. I’m adding this to my “must try” list. Pinning.

  4. Hi Evija. Love what you did with the Suffolk puffs you made. What a lovely way to recycle your old curtains. Thinks I may do some myself. Thanks for sharing your idea. 🙂

  5. Hi Evija, Each week I get a Pinterest report on certain pins and this one is always there and I thought you would be excited, it has been Repinned 30,942 times, and saved 193 times. It is my number one highest repinned picture and as far as I can figure it started on 12/15/15. But wow this is impressive. The wreath is beautiful and inspiring for me to make one.

Thanks for being one of my longest hostesses on the #OMHGWW.
Hope you have a great week!

    1. oh WOW that is brilliant!!!! SO excited the wreath is so popular, I love it so much too!! My pleasure and thank you for being such an amazing hostess! Evija x

  6. This is very pretty! I can’t say as I’ve ever heard these called Suffolk puffs before. I have been making these for years and they have always been called yoyo’s. I made a beautiful wreath on wood from these years ago. I will have to go through my pictures to see if I can find one to add here. I love the way you created the backing for this wreath too. Good job on this and the best to you!

    1. Thank you Shirley. I read that in United States they are called yoyos. It is interesting how different countries call the same things in different names! Would love to see yuor creation!

      1. Evija I would love to show you the wreath I made but there’s no way to put it on here. Is there an email I can send it to?

        Thanks,

        Shirley

  7. What a stunning wreath! I want to make one so……..

Can you tell me the diameter sizes you used for your circles please? I’ve left you my email if you could! Thx!!!

I’m making gingerbread aprons using “yo-yos” for the mouth and eyes! I love the look they give.
    Thank you!
