Bathroom Makeover – Part 2 – The Big Reveal!

I hope you enjoyed the Part One of the Bathroom Makeover projects, you can catch up with it here, in case you missed it .  Thankfully all the dramas are behind us and I can today reveal our stunning bathroom.  It has been a long journey (down to many issues), but we got there in the end! Do bear with me as there will be LOTS of photos!!

We had our nice plastered and freshly tiled walls, it was time to decide on the paint colour. As I mentioned in my previous post I am super indecisive!! I had narrowed it down to 3 colours and we chose the Dulux Mineral Mist shade.. I started painting and the room just looked so blue and shiny!! I kept walking back upstairs to check it in different lighting but I still wasn’t sure about it!!

I ended up going to the DIY store on Easter Sunday and getting a custom mixed paint by Valspar instead (it’s called – “singin’ the blues”).  I am so happy I did as the colour turned out perfect, plus I also got some treats at the shop as they were treating children with chocolates and sweeties! I was cheeky and got offered some too! 🙂

This new colour suited our bathroom much better and was exactly what we were after – grey/blue mix to match our bathroom vanity unit.

Remember what it looked like before?

I am so glad we ended up getting the white subway tile and paint half of the walls as our bathroom looks so much bigger than it did before.  We also installed the underfloor heating for the cold winter nights!

Our ceiling is quite low so we had to choose a light that was pretty much flush with the ceiling.  We chose this simple Milano Square Lighting fixture.

I created this wall art using a mixture of different shades of blue paint, saltwash and caulk to create texture. You can see the full post here.

The shower had a full makeover – out with the old and in with the new!!! The dark cabinet was upcycled to match our bathroom vanity.  You can see the full post here.

  1. Love it, we are in the process of choosing a light blue for our bathroom too, yours looks fabulous xx

    1. It took us a while to get the right colour, make sure you get lots of samples as the colours look so different once painted on the wall and in different lights.. we also went for durable matt paint rather than “bathroom paint” as they were all silk finish.. good luck!

  2. You did a great job with your bathroom makeover. It is so light and bright, I love the piece of artwork you’ve chosen, and the greys are perfect. It makes me want to get started on mine!
