Today is finally here, when I can show you the Living Room Reveal Part 2!! When we moved in our house in 2016, we decided not to decorate our living room until we start the kitchen/dining room remodel.. However, after living in our house for a year we decided to simply ‘freshen up’ the room, by removing the old wallpaper and paint the walls… As you can imagine one thing led to another and we ended up totally transforming the room but did it on a tight budget! To see what we did, see my Part 1 post.
{full disclosure – THIS POST HAS LOTS OF PHOTOS!!}
We bought this huge corner sofa and the whole room was sort of designed around it. We love nothing more than cosying up on the sofa watching TV.
You probably have seen the fireplace redesign, if you haven’t you can catch up with the post here
We decided to change the carpet and install laminate flooring (same as in the hallway). Thank you to Mikey, who helped us out and did an amazing job installing the floor and skirting boards.
The walls are painted in custom shade by Valspar and Slate (in matt) for the statement wall.
We raised the curtain pole a few inches higher to make the windows appear larger. We get such beautiful light in from the window, we decided not to use a blind just curtains as no one can really look into our garden and living room. Apart from neighbours across the road if they really wanted to check on us from their second floor room!
I created this mirror from an old and super heavy mirror my friend Kirsty gave me (full tutorial to follow)..
The sideboard fitted perfectly in the room after a few tweaks. My upcycled coffee table is the statement piece (on a budget) that I wanted for the room combined with a tray and silver accents.
Gallery wall is a mixture of artwork I created and some pieces I already got. I ordered a portrait of Coco from the super talented Meagan Seith and knew that the gallery wall will be selected around similar colours. The middle piece is my take on an abstract seaside implementing the colours from Meagan’s piece and a little bit of sparkle with the silver leaf!
I feel like I want to add some more paintings and prints but it took me a while to convince Shaun to hang these (as he thinks it will look too cluttered!!) .. so maybe give a few months.. I am hoping to add a few prints from Gina Potter and Lush Ecletic (as I love their work!)
I added a splash of colour and texture with these fun cushions and of course no room is complete without a plant or two (or three)!!
I will be sharing the list and sources to everything I used in a separate post.
So which is your favourite part of the makeover??
I am about to finalise the post with sources and links if you liked anything and wanted to see where I got them from.. If you haave any questions or comments, let me know!!
Absolutely love your room how it turned out. You have done a great job. And your carpet is just stunning. Did you buy in the UK? Please, post a link if that’s not hard.
Inese, thank you so much!! I will be putting links with sources up shortly.. I ordered the rug online from UK website and it is great quality, I think it came from USA though but it only took a couple of days! I will pop the link when I find it!
The finished room looks great! I love how cosy the sofa looks with all those cushions! 🙂

What a cosy yet airy space, Evija! You’ve done so many clever tricks to make the most of the light and layout (and that portrait of Coco!)
Thank you so much Juan!! The artist who painted Coco’s portrait is amazing!!
