Transform an old glass container into a beautiful piece using gold spray paint

I found these glass containers and they were still in a good shape, there was slight chipping on one of them and the gold lines were all scratched from the top. I decided to spruce them up a bit using some gold spray paint. Everything looks so much better when it is gold, don’t you think?

I cleaned the glass containers and decided to have two of them spray painted completely using some rubber bands to have a nice finish and the other two renewed to their former glory!

Glass transformation No. 1

I simply put some masking tape around the edges and covered the  exposed glass with cling film, so the spray wouldn’t go over.

Spray over and let it dry and simply remove the tape for a nice crisp line.

Glass transformation No.2

I put the rubber bands around the glass and spray painted the glass, make sure you are in a  well ventillated area and let them dry.

Let the spray paint dry (follow the instructions on your can) and once dry remove the bands!

  1. Evija, I absolutely love this idea, it was so simple. I can see during the holidays using this idea and creating a plaid theme but using tape. I love, love, love this idea.

  2. Hey Evija! Just wanted to let you know that I chose your post as my featured pick for the Merry Monday link party this week! Thanks for sharing with us and I hope you’ll link up with us again this week!

  3. Hello, love this idea! What spray paint did you use? I love this shade of gold. The spray paint I found looks a little mustardy (just made that word up hehe) and not too fond of it.

  4. You are so clever Evija, you make this so simple, I think I could do this. Great for the mantel and I agree gold makes everything beautiful!!

Look forward to featuring your project this week!!
    Have a great week!

  5. I never thought to do that. It turned out to be so pretty. You could do red and green ones for Christmas to.

  6. Evija, these are so pretty! I have a massive collection of glass vases and bottles that this would be the perfect way to spruce them up! Thank you for sharing. Feel free to share this post at my Make it Pretty party at The Dedicated House. Here is the link to this week’s bash. Hope to see you at the party! Have a lovely rest of the week. 7. Oh my how pretty these look, Evija! The transformation is amazing! I love using Gold spray paint! It’s always fun to see what you are working on, and co-hosting #Omhgww with you! Have a beautiful week!

  8. LOVE this idea! But I think I may do this with silver and metallic red. I don’t have any used glasses. Soooo Dollar Tree, here I come! I think I may try to find them in different heights and put candles in them.

    1. Hi Terra, thank you for your comment. I would not use this technique for glasses or any cups and items you would use for consumption of drink or food. The spray paint is toxic and you should not use it if there is any possibility of the paint touching your lips/mouth. Even some non toxic items (mod podge ) should still not be used, where the lips touch.

  9. So simple and so beautiful! And versatile! I can’t stop with the exclamation points. Gosh, I see Christmas, baby showers, and lots more. But gold will be the best of all! And the glasses don’t even have to match before or after spraying. Thanks, Evija!!!!!

  10. Absolutely beautiful! I have a ceiling light with a plain old glass globe. I’d love to give it this classy look. Do you think the paint would stand up to the heat of a 60 watt light bulb?
