I already posted a simple gift idea for Mother’s Day, which you can see here, so this is another post about making a simple but beautiful present for your mum.
I ordered some glitter online a while back and was eager to do something with it.. I decided to use this gorgeous blue glitter on this project for Mother’s Day.
For this project you will need:
- glass containers, wine glass, vase (or anything you would like to glitter)
- Mod Podge (or alternitavely you can use PVA glue and clear varnish)
- Paint brush
- Something to cover the work area
First thing you do is wash your glass container/glass/vase and prepare it for putting the glitter on.
Paint the area you wish the glitter to go on with mod podge, don’t put a very thick layer as it will just run down and glitter slide off making a bit of a mess.
You then sprinkle the glitter over, once everything is covered, shake the item a little so that the excess glitter comes off.
Don’t worry about glitter falling off the piece, just make sure you have some sort of container or paper underneath so you can easily put the excess back in the bag.
For the wine glass and the vase I used some tape to cover the area where I didn’t want the glitter to go and this will also give you a nice crisp line.
Let the items dry completely and then put a layer of mod podge over. Do not sprinkle any glitter on, just let the mod podge dry off.
If you were using PVA glue instead of mod podge, make sure on your last layer you apply the clear varnish so that it seals your item so that it can be washed.
Once everything has dried, just remove the tape and clear any glitter that is inside the glass and it is all done!
