Today I decided to do a little post on how to find the perfect sofa for your home. As you know we have been decorating our living room for a while now and one of the first things we bought for our living room, was the sofa!
We ordered our sofa in the Isle of Man, and it was made to measure for us. It was lovely to go in the shop and choose exactly what we wanted, the colour and shape that suited our room! In my dream world I would probably prefer to have a lovely cream or pale grey sofa, but in reality light colours are very hard to keep, so we decided on a charcoal grey. Plus Coco is really the Queen of the House (do you follow my IG stories??) so keeping her off the sofa was out of the question..
Here are my tips on how to choose your perfect sofa:-
1. STYLE
Choose the style of the sofa that suits your home. Do you want a modern, traditional or contemporary sofa? Decide on what style you like and if you can’t find exactly what you like, don’t worry as there are plenty of companies out there that create bespoke furniture to suit your needs.

2. SPACE
Think about the space and what is the purpose of the sofa in your home. Is it for entertaining your friends or maybe it is a family space, place where you want to snuggle up and watch a movie together? We wanted a big cosy sofa, which would not only look good but would be comfortable too.

3. COLOUR
Choose the “right” colour (there is no right or wring colurs really). Do you want it to be a statement piece or maybe a nice backdrop for your funky cushion collection? What colours do you like and what colours you would not easily get bored with? You also must think about practicality and whether you would be equally excited about your white sofa if you have pets or children!

4. MATERIAL
Choose the material and try out different textures. Remember you will be spending a lot of time sitting on your sofa. Do you prefer leather or maybe fabric, are you a fan of plain colours or maybe you prefer patterns?

5. PERSONALISE
Make it YOUR OWN. Cushions and throws are the easiest way to change-up a decor and brighten a room. Choose a sofa that will allow you change the cushions and add a little extra to the room if you get bored from time to time.

I am loving that sofa. A new one is on the cards now that Sebby is potty trained but waiting for the january sales
Checking out exact space sizes is so important no one wants a sofa that makes a room look to crowded x
I want a new sofa, a lovely big corner one we can all watch movies on this winter. Ours have seen better days now but we are reluctant to change until we have got our son a little more house trained haha
I love the look of that grey corner sofa. Checking the size is so important I know we couldn’t fit a corner sofa in our living room. The last thing u want is to be left with a sofa u can’t get in.
I have just bought a new sofa and it arrived last week and I couldn’t be happier with it. I opted for an L shaped sofa as I wanted the comfort to lay with my partner when watching TV and it’s a beautiful grey colour too x
I enjoyed sofa shopping. There’s such a variety out there though so makes it hard to choose sometimes!
I think buying a sofa is a huge commitment because it sets the style of the room so it’s so important to find the right one
Great tips for choosing a sofa – it is so important to pick the right one for you and your family!
Fab ideas and tips, I love the colour you’ve chosen too 🙂
I’ve always wanted that kind of L shaped sofa! They look perfect for lazing around on 😀
I love your sofa, Coco definitely seems happy on it too! I wish I had put more thought in to my suite when I bought it. Its all gorgeous colour and shape and statement pieces but so uncomfortable to sit on.
We have a massive corner couch so we can fit everyone on it without being cramped! Love the pug cushion!
