DIY Screen Printing at Home using Screen Sensation

I’ve been a huge fan of screen printing for some time so when I got offered to work with a company, that had a product which could be easily used at home – I jumped at the chance! Let me introduce you to Screen Sensation*.

Screen Sensation is at-home screen printing system, which is easy to use and allows you to create beautiful prints that can be used used for papercraft, textiles, home decor and general craft.

I received a Screen Sensation Starter Kit 12×12, 3 screen prints of my choice and 3 different coloured inks.

The starter kit contains:

Screen Sensation screen printing system
Frame, featuring 24cm square aperture.
Squeegee, specifically sized to the screen ensuring you get an even coverage across the whole of your design.
Palette Knife, perfectly shaped to allow you to transfer your chosen ink directly from the Ink Pot or Mixing Bowl to the surface of your screen.
10 Wooden Mixing Tools, which allow you to thoroughly mix a range of colours of your choice by combining different ink colours.
Mixing Bowl shaped to allow you to easily mix and thin down your inks and then transfer to the surface of your screen. The bowl also folds flat to minimise storage room.

I decided to try out my hands on printing on paper first to create a fun print for my gallery wall [I am planning on doing a few cushions very soon too so keep an eye on the blog!]

I opened my starter kit and the ‘Pina Colada’ screen and looked through the guide. It turned out, the screen sensation was super easy to use! Simply attach your chosen screen print to the frame with the tape provided and insert it into the Screen Sensation and you are set to go!

  1. Transfer your ink onto the screen

2. Pull the ink down using a squeegee

3. Make sure you cover the whole area with ink

Lift the screen and remove your print! Let it dry and it is ready to be framed! This was my first ever attempt and I think I did pretty well, considering I had never done it before.. As with everything, practice makes perfect!

Don’t forget to remove any excess ink and wash your screen before the ink has dried.. and that’s it!
