Hi everyone !! This is day three of the 12 Days of Christmas Challenge. Today’s project is a lovely Christmas tree ornament for your tree.
As you know I love to upcycle and reuse things I already have. Unfortunately some of our Christmas ornaments have faded or simply are a bit old. Instead of throwing them out, try to think of some clever ways to reuse them..
Here is what I did….
I took these old golden Christmas ornaments and decided to make them new again! I used some PVA glue to cover the bauble.
I then sprinkled some rice over to cover it all. YES you read it right.. I put rice on a Christmas ornament, but please BEAR WITH ME… I promise the end result is worth it…
I had to put a layer of PVA to seal it and then repeat the step to make sure the area was fully covered.
When it was drying it reminded me of Raffaelo sweets! 🙂
I then simply spray painted the bauble with gold spray paint (everything looks better in gold – its a FACT! 🙂 ) and added some sparkle by sprinkling some gold and irridescent glitter. To seal it I used some clear Acrylic spray.
What do you think?? Such a simple idea but the baubles are as new and even more beautiful than they originally were, don’t you think??
On the…. 3rd Day of Christmas Evija made….. CHRISTMAS TREE ORNAMENTS!!!!!
I am also taking part in the Preloved Thrifty Christmas Competition!

What is PVA glue?
Very nice.
Hi, pva glue is the same as Elmers glue in America I think. It is the glue normally used at kids crafts. X
It looks amazing! What a great idea :0)

Thank you Indah 🙂
My gosh! How creative and so effective. Love this idea! #CraftyChristmas
I love this! But where did you place it while it was drying so that it doesn’t stick to a surface or drip all over???
Hi Brenda, thank you so much. As I was leaving them to dry, I hung them on a drawer knob (hanging by a string) and put something underneath as it did drip and make a bit of a mess. As long as it is hanging on something it should dry nicely, just do make sure you put something under it for the dripping glue.
This is fantastic! I never would have thought to use RICE to upcycle ornaments! Just goes to show, you can do anything with a little glue and a little paint! Love it! 😀
