DIY Blog Challenge – Thrift Store Upcycle

I joined a group of some like-minded bloggers who are taking part in a monthly DIY challenge.  This month’s challenge was to find an item in a local thrift store/charity shop and give it a makeover. As you know I love upcycling (and visiting thrift stores) so this month’s challenge was right up my street!

I found this little round table ready to be thrown out, I thought it would be a great little upcycling project.  I was after a plant holder for my craft room, so this was perfect for me!

I cleaned up the little side table and started by sanding the top off.  If you have seen my craft room reveal post, you know I used a Marrakech stencil for the wall, so to tie in with the theme, I wanted to use a stencil on my table top too.

Once sanded, I cleaned the little side table and it was ready to be painted.  I used Everlong chalk paint in shade kingfisher as it is absolutely gorgeous!  I then stenciled the table top using a mini Marrakech stencil I found in my craft stash.

I wanted to add a little extra so painted the edge of the table and the rim on the table leg with some Everlong paint in Stardust (even my paint brush is matching!)

To seal the table top I simply used some dark wax.

I absolutely love it, what do you think?

Here are the other bloggers taking part in this month’s challenge.  Be sure to check  out what they did!!

  3. Great job on this furniture flip! The stenciling is perfect on the woodgrain, and the painted legs and edges turned out beautifully. It’s attractive and updated next to your chair.

  4. I love the use of the stencil. My daughter and I are getting furniture ready for her first apartment and we’re going to give this a try.

  5. Evija you always have the funnest projects and they turn out perfect. It looks great alongside the chair!!
